The remodeled home was chosen because of the expansive remodel that transformed a once small, foreclosed, drug dealers' house that was the scourge of a great neighborhood into one of the nicest, virtually new homes in the Alabama Hill Neighborhood.  Amenities of the home include Four Seasons Sunroom/family room; a beautiful stone vertical grain fir wood-burning fireplace with disappearing plasma TV above the mantel; high quality Canyon Creek cabinets; granite countertops; cherry and tile floors; sound system; steam shower and large jetted tubs; a composite deck; and Accessory Dwelling Unit.

The project began with the purchase in January, 2007, of the house by Dan and Sally Moore, and their son, Erik.  It was a 1248 SF, three bedroom, one bath home that Dan and Sally had had their eyes on for several years, as it fell into neglect and disrepair.  When the house was finally foreclosed and auctioned, the former occupants left behind years of abuse and filth.  The first step was to remove over 20,000 pounds of garbage from the house.  In the meantime, Dan's remodeling company, TPS Services, worked with Erik to design the home to his specifications.  It was determined that the main home would be enlarged to 3431 SF including 6 bedrooms, 4 baths, and an 800 SF legal Accessory Dwelling Unit, plus a 3-car garage.  As construction progressed, curious neighbors would stop by to take a look at the work that TPS Services was doing.  They expressed their appreciation that this home and their new neighbor would make a great addition to the neighborhood.

Have you seen our South Bay Bed and Breakfast remodel? Our challenge was to recycle a structurally attractive but cosmetically worn 1400 square foot, three bedroom, two bath, story-and-a-half Craftsman house, built in 1910 with a wrap around porch. It was owned by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, and was supposed to be torn down as part of our contract to build a modern 1600 square foot ranch style house to replace it. We got permission to move it, found a sloping, five acre lake view parcel a mile away, and decided to move, it, fix it up, and sell it.

After we started the job, we changed our mind, and, as owner-builder, were determined to make the highest and best use of the house and the site. We ended up gutting the inside and more than tripling the size to transform it into a six bedroom, eight bathroom, 4600 square foot bed and breakfast. We wanted to create attractive and ample private and common space for both guests and innkeepers, while retaining and enhancing the classic Craftsman style. See the result here.
